Mental Health Services in Las Vegas, Nevada

We provide comprehensive, specialized care—including EMDR and medication management—tailored to your life stage and unique needs.

The Meridian Approach: Evidence-Based & Patient-Centered

We understand that navigating the mental healthcare system can be exhausting. Our entire clinical model is designed to remove those barriers. We utilize an integrated care approach, which studies show increases treatment success rates by over 40% compared to fragmented care (American Psychological Association). By offering both diagnostic psychiatry and specialized psychotherapy under one roof, we ensure your treatment plan is cohesive, continuous, and highly effective.

What to Expect When You Begin Care

1Initial Psychiatric Evaluation

Your journey begins with a comprehensive 60-minute diagnostic evaluation. Unlike brief 15-minute consultations standard at many clinics, we take the time required to understand your complete biological, psychological, and social history. We will review past treatments, current symptoms, sleep patterns, and family history to form an accurate diagnosis.

2Collaborative Treatment Planning

We practice shared decision-making. By the end of your evaluation, your provider will outline all evidence-based options available to you—which may include medication management (pharmacotherapy), specific therapeutic modalities like CBT or EMDR, or referrals for advanced diagnostic tools like pharmacogenomic (DNA) testing. You are always in control of your treatment path.

3Ongoing Support & Optimization

Mental health recovery is not a one-time event. We provide rigorous, ongoing follow-up care. During subsequent medication management or therapy sessions, we utilize standardized clinical assessments (like the PHQ-9 for depression) to objectively measure your progress, allowing us to safely adjust dosages or therapeutic approaches until you achieve lasting stability and symptom remission.

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Services

Clear answers to help you navigate your mental health care journey in Las Vegas.

What is the difference between a psychiatrist and a therapist?

A psychiatrist (or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, like our PMHNP-BCs) is a medical professional trained to diagnose mental health disorders and prescribe medication to correct biological or neurochemical imbalances. A therapist (such as an LCSW, MFT, or LPC) provides ongoing counseling, talk therapy, and behavioral interventions like CBT or EMDR to help you process emotions, build coping skills, and enact behavioral change. Meridian proudly offers both services.

Do you offer telehealth appointments for all services?

Yes. We provide secure, HIPAA-compliant video appointments throughout the entire state of Nevada for both psychiatric medication management and psychotherapy. Telehealth is highly effective and offers incredible convenience, though some highly acute conditions may require in-person assessment.

What insurance do you accept at your Las Vegas clinic?

We are proudly in-network with the majority of major insurance plans to make care accessible. This includes Aetna, Cigna, Anthem BCBS, Anthem Medicaid, Carelon, First Health, SilverSummit Healthplan, UnitedHealthcare, Medicare, and Medicaid. We also offer entirely transparent self-pay (cash) rates for out-of-network patients.

How long is the first mental health appointment?

Initial psychiatric diagnostic evaluations typically last between 45 to 60 minutes to ensure a comprehensive assessment without rushing. Initial psychotherapy intake sessions are usually 50 to 55 minutes.

Do I need a referral from my primary care doctor to be seen?

No referral is required. We are a direct-access specialty clinic. You can schedule an appointment directly with our front office or use our secure online booking portal.

What age groups do you treat?

Meridian Behavioral Health specializes in treating adolescents (ages 12 and older) and adults across the lifespan, including specialized geriatric care. We do not currently provide services for young children under age 12.

How long does it take for psychiatric medication to start working?

Response times vary heavily based on the class of medication. While some anti-anxiety or sleep medications provide relief within hours, most standard antidepressants (SSRIs/SNRIs) and mood stabilizers require 4 to 6 weeks to build to a therapeutic level in your system. Your clinician will clearly outline the expected timeline during your visit.
