Understanding Your Medicare Mental Health Benefits

Mental health is a critical component of healthy aging and overall well-being. However, navigating Medicare terminology can be confusing.

The most important distinction is between Part A and Part B. Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) covers your visits to Meridian Behavioral Health because we provide outpatient clinical care. This includes comprehensive psychiatric diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and individual therapy.

In 2024, Medicare Part B covers 80% of the approved amount for mental health services. If you have a Medigap (supplemental) policy, it typically covers the remaining 20% coinsurance!

Does Meridian Behavioral Health accept Medicare?▼
Yes, we are actively enrolled Medicare providers in Las Vegas. We accept original Medicare Part B for outpatient mental health services including psychiatric evaluations, prescription management, and psychotherapy.
Does Medicare Part A cover my visits?▼
No. Medicare Part A generally covers inpatient hospital stays. Outpatient clinic visits, like seeing a psychiatrist or therapist at our offices or via telehealth, are covered under Medicare Part B.
What is my out-of-pocket cost with Medicare Part B?▼
Typically, Medicare Part B covers 80% of the Medicare-approved amount for mental health services. You or your supplemental (Medigap) insurance are responsible for the remaining 20% coinsurance after your Part B deductible is met.
Do you accept Medicare Advantage (Part C) plans?▼
We accept several Medicare Advantage plans depending on the underlying network (e.g., Aetna Medicare Advantage, UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage). Since Advantage networks change frequently, please call us to verify if we are in-network with your specific Part C plan.
Are telehealth appointments covered by Medicare?▼
Yes. Traditional Medicare Part B fully covers telehealth appointments for psychiatry and therapy, allowing you to speak to your provider from the comfort and safety of your home.
